Rage (Alex Delaware) review:4 stars (Solid entry in a solid series) - I've liked all the Alex Delaware books and this was no exception. Entertaining mystery and interesting characters with the usual bits of character development among the main cast. As with most of the books in this series the resolution seems a bit forced and doesn't live up to the buildup, but all in all this is another fun book in a good entertaining series.2 stars (Exposition at its Worst) - One of the first things young writers are taught is that you don't tell your reader...you show the reader through action. This book continues the tiresome trend of having Dr. Delaware detail what happened, or at least his assumptions of what happened to Detective Milo...not once but through out the novel.
While I admire novels that focus on the psychological profiling and forensic data gathering in crime fighting, I don't expect them to be presented as long winded narratives.
There are just better writers out there and I think I'll pass on Kellerman, unless all that's left to read is a James Patterson book. 2 stars (Boring) - I have always enjoyed Jonahan Kellerman's books. What made this one different--and tedious to read--is the absence of any characters that one could care about--they're all dreadful people whose fate would normally be in the back pages of the Sunday paper, and the protagonists are in a disengaged, wandering intellectual mode. I was really sorry I spent money to be so thoroughly bored. A difficult book to finish without falling asleep. Rage (Alex Delaware) Features: Author: Jonathan Kellerman Fiction / Suspense
